Questions and answers

RFID tags and creating a Virta account

RFID tags and creating a Virta account

How do I get access to a Virta account and RFID tags?
Once your company signs up for NF Electric, you may set up a Virta account and order RFID tags (two per driver) from your dedicated NF Fleet contact person.

How are the RFID tags delivered to me?
RFID tags are delivered to your home address in the same way as fuel cards. You do not need an RFID tag when using the Virta mobile app. However, it is good to have an RFID tag so that you can use the service in, for example, a parking garage.

How long does it take to get the RFID tags?
The usual delivery time is around three weeks.

How do I activate the Virta mobile app?
Virta will send you email instructions on how to set up and use their mobile app. You will then receive an activation email after which you have two weeks to activate your app. If, for some reason, you do not do this, your registration will expire. If you experience a time-out, you can contact Virta’s 24/7 call center at +358 (0)800 02200 (Finnish, Swedish, English) or support@virta.fi

Can I use the Virta mobile app or the RFID tags supplied by NF Fleet at any charging station operated by Virta (charging at home, at work or at a public station)?
Yes. Every time you use the RFID tag or an activated user account on the Virta mobile app, the invoice is forwarded to NF Fleet and the charging costs will be included in your company’s monthly lease invoice. What comes to Virta home charging stations: The operator can define a home charging station for one user only or set it up for public use without user restrictions.

Can I also get two fuel cards in addition to the RFID tag?
Yes, if that is in line with your company car policy.

I have a full company-car benefit and already use a personal RFID tag. Can I continue using this tag when driving a company car or should I order a new RFID tag through NF Fleet?
For your company car, new user IDs and RFID tags must be ordered directly through NF Fleet. This way, compensation and payments remain clear in all situations. However, your existing RFID tags can be added to your Virta account, provided you know their identification codes.

I have a full company-car benefit and already use RFID tags provided by NF Fleet for my current car. Can I keep using the same tag for my new car?
RFID tags for your company car are ordered directly through NF Fleet. This way all compensation and payments related topics remain clear in all situations. However, if you already have an RFDI tag, it may be added to your Virta account, provided that you have the identification code for the tag in question.

I have a limited company-car benefit and my employer allows me to charge my company car at work and at public charging stations tax-free. Can I order an RFID tag from NF Fleet?
Yes. You can do this easily by contacting your NF Fleet contact person.

When a lease vehicle changes, the driver always gets a new account and the old one is cancelled. How do I take the new account into use?
You need to sign out of your old user account. Then you need to sign in again, using your email address as your user ID and your earlier password.

Who should I contact if there are issues with the RFID tag?
The Virta call center is there to help you 24/7: Tel. +358 (0)800 02200 (Finnish, Swedish, English) or support@virta.fi. You can also order tags directly through the Virta mobile app.

General questions about charging

General questions about charging

How can I find the charging stations operated by Virta?
You can find all Virta charging stations easily with the Virta mobile app or at the Virta website: app.virta.global.

What does charging with the Virta RFID tag or mobile app cost?
The charging price is always set by the service provider. The charge may be based on kilowatts or charging time,  and it may also include a reservation and / or parking fee. Most often, just a kilowatt-based price is used. The prices and possible free use times can be found at the charging stations or in the service provider’s mobile app
and website.

Home charging

Home charging

Can a home charger be included as a company car accessory?
Yes, for both full and limited company car benefit drivers if it is in line with your company car policy. The employer determines the type of benefit to be provided to individual employees, so please check with your employer first. A company may decide to include just the charging device or both the device and the installation as accessories to a lease vehicle. If the device installation costs are to be included in the leasing contract, the installation costs need to be known when ordering a new lease vehicle. A company may also decide not to provide the benefit at all.

How are the installation costs of a home charger handled in the leasing contract?
The leasing contract may contain either just the charging device or the charging device and its installation costs as taxable car accessories. The costs / estimated costs need to be known when ordering a new leasing car and entering into a leasing contact. However, if the actual installation costs exceed the estimated cost, the supplier of the charging device shall collect the difference directly from either the driver or the employer – depending on what you have agreed with your employer. The original installation cost estimate remains in the leasing contract and cannot be changed at a later stage.

If you pay the installation costs of the charging device yourself, you can claim household expense compensation in your personal taxation for the work component of the installation costs.

Who orders the home charger?
As a company car driver, you can order the charging device with permission from your employer and NF Fleet. It is also your responsibility to ensure that the device is appropriate for your house and that you have permission from the owner of your home property. Upon ordering your car from the car vendor or dealer, NF Fleet needs to know the total price of the charging device that is to be included in your leasing contract. The price of the charging device cannot be changed in the leasing contract at a later stage.

How can I order a Virta home charging device?
Contact your NF Fleet contact person, and he or she will help you with ordering an NF Electric home charging device from Eltel Networks. Eltel Networks will contact you within five business days of the order to sort out the details of the installation with you. For more information about a home charging device and/or installations, contact:

Who is responsible for repairing or upgrading the home charging device in case the device does not work properly?
This depends on your company car policy. We advise you to contact the supplier/manufacturer of the charging device immediately if there is a problem with the device. Device maintenance, repairs, upgrades or any separate service fees charged by the charging device company are not included in your leasing contract.

Can my employer purchase a home charging device directly from any party that sells them?
If you want to include a home charging device as a vehicle accessory in the leasing contract, the alternatives are a smart charging device provided by our partner Virta or a basic charging device provided by our car vendor partner. This way, the charging costs can be included in NF Fleet’s lease invoicing and reporting. You can also purchase a charging device from some other party but in that case the device cannot be part of the leasing contract.

What do I do with a home charging device included in the leasing contract if I change jobs during the course of the leasing period?
Discuss the issue with your employer. It is also possible to purchase the charging device from NF Fleet for the current market value if this is in line with your company car policy.

Can a Virta home charging device be included in an existing leasing contract?
A home charging device cannot be added to an existing leasing contract.

I live in a housing company. Who do I need to ask if I can have a charging device installed in my parking space?
You need have permission from the board of your housing company.

What to do if the Virta public charging RFID tag supplied by NF Fleet does not work with my home charging station?
Each user has to be granted access to the Virta station’s admin panel or the station must be made entirely public before any charging can be done.

Public charging

Public charging

Who provides public charging stations in Finland?
In Finland, public charging is provided by Virta and, for example, Fortum Charge&Drive, Plugit, Tesla, Kesko, Lidl and Parkkisähkö. Some of the actors own charging stations and others only operate them. NF Fleet’s charging solutions partner is Virta who has an extensive charging network all over Finland. NF Electric customers have access to all of Virta’s own charging stations as well as Helen and K-lataus charging stations. An up-to-date list and map of charging stations can be found in the Virta mobile app. Virta currently operates around 8,600 charging stations.

Is there a place that shows all the public charging stations in Finland?
Yes, you can find all the charging stations in Finland at Latauskartta.fi.

What does charging at a public charging station cost?
Charging fees depend on the service provider. Depending on the charging station, the price may be minute-based or kilowatt-based as well as a one-time fee. Shopping centers may even provide free charging. The price (or possible free use) of the charging service can be seen at the charging stations or in the service provider’s mobile app and website.

How do you charge a car at a public charging station?
The use of public charging stations requires the service provider’s mobile app or RFID tag. You can activate your Virta account and order a Virta RFID tag from NF Fleet. For NF Electric customers, the invoices are sent to NF Fleet and the charging costs are included in your company’s lease invoice.

If I have a company-car benefit, can I apply for compensation from my employer for charging electricity from charging stations not operated by Virta?
Yes, if this is in line with your company’s car policy. Check with your employer.

Can I use the Virta RFID tag or mobile app to charge at public charging stations operated by other service providers?
You can use the Virta RFID tag / mobile app to charge at Virta’s own charging stations as well as those of Virta’s partners K-Lataus and Helen. The prices can be found in the mobile app). The network is constantly growing. Please note that charging prices can vary greatly between service providers and charging stations.

Can I use a Neste fuel card to charge at charging stations located at Neste stations?
Neste fuel cards do not work at electric charging stations since they are operated by an external party. Neste’s charging partner is K-Lataus.

Is it possible to include charging costs from Tesla Superchargers in the lease agreement?
Unfortunately not. NF Fleet operates with Virta only. Tesla charging is always charged from the credit card connected with the charging event.

General questions about plug-in vehicles

General questions about plug-in vehicles

How much electricity do all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles consume?
It depends on the car model and driving behaviour. On average, an all-electric vehicle consumes about 25kWh. So, if the price of electricity is 15c/kWh, the cost for 100 kilometers is about 3.75€. With plug-in hybrid vehicles, the role of the driver is more important: Without charging, the vehicle consumption may exceed that of a fossil-fuel combustion engine vehicle. On the other hand, if a plug-in hybrid vehicle is charged regularly, the consumption may even come close to that of an all-electric vehicle and fossil fuel is barely consumed at all.

What is the range of an all-electric vehicle?
All-electric vehicles’ ranges vary depending on the car model from around 100 kilometers up to 600 kilometers.

What kind of charging cable does the factory supply with the car?
It depends on the car model but a new car usually comes with a Schuko cable (for slow charging) and/or Type 2 cable (for medium-fast charging). All charging cables are also available for purchase from automotive retailers and car dealers.
